No. It is not at all mandatory to apply through an Electrical Contractor. You may directly approach any of Torrent Power Customer Connect Centre and they will assist you in completing the necessary formalities.
However applications for new connection, load alteration, shifting etc would require a Test Report as per GERC supply code. Such test reports are issued by a government licensed electrical contractor certifying that your internal wiring is in order.
Installation Test Report is a certificate issued by the Licensed Electrical Contractor confirming that the installation wiring is as per specified standards.

You can get an additional meter for a different tariff on the same name. All you need to do is submit a Requisition Form for extension of load at any of our Plug Point.
Security deposit is charged per kilo Watt as under -
1. For, Residential Premises (RGP) | |
a. Up to 1 kW of connected load | Rs. 700/- |
b. For each subsequent 0.5 kW or part thereof | Rs. 300/- |
2. For, Non-Residential Premises up to 15 kW load (NRGP) | |
a. Up to 1 kW of connected load | Rs. 1200/- |
b. For each subsequent 0.5 kW or part thereof | Rs. 600/- |
3. For, Non-Residential Premises above 15 kW load (LTMD-2) | |
a. Up to 1 kW of connected load | Rs. 3500/- |
b. For each subsequent 0.5 kW or part thereof | Rs. 1750/- |
4. For, Residential Premises Common service above 15 kW load (LTMD-1) | |
a. Up to 1 kW of connected load | Rs. 3500/- |
b. For each subsequent 0.5 kW or part thereof | Rs. 1750/- |
Yes. You can request refund of your security deposit by submitting an application for the same at any of our Plug Point along with the original security deposit receipt.
